Tihar IGNOU study center got “ISO 9001:2008” Certificate

 The Indira Gandhi National Open University’s Study center of Tihar got the first time ISO 9001:2008 Certification. it created milestone in the history of IGNOU.The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Govt of India, has given IGNOU Study Centre at Tihar Jail in New Delhi a license for quality management systems certification. On this occasion, A cultural event was organized by Regular MSW (Philanthropy) students of IGNOU in jail no.3, who were placed for field work practicum. Chief Guest of this function (Honorable Director SSC of  IGNOU) praised the effort of Mr. M.K. Diwvedi    ( Superintendent/Coordinator) of Tihar central jail no. 3. She said also IGNOU will extend the require courses and appoints academic counselor in Tihar IGNOU study center soon. The function saw performances by hearing-impaired students and full-time students of IGNOU through the Art & Cultural committee of IGNOU On-Campus Students Society. Inmates of there also performed in this event.  The license is valid for three years till October 12, 2013 and may be renewed as prescribed in the regulations,” said a BIS communiqué. IGNOU Study Centre, as well as the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) at the Tihar Jail, serves the needs of nearly 2,640 and 1,900 jail inmates, respectively, enrolled in various programmes.
